The Fifth Kingdom

If one has had any exposure to the Bible, especially as a child in Sunday school class, you should remember the story of Daniel in the lions’ den. God protected Daniel, who was taken captive as a Jewish boy and taken to the land of Babylon, today’s Iraq and Iran.

Before the lions’ den story, Daniel, known for his wisdom, was chosen to be adviser to the king. It was at this time that King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, and none of his wise counselors could give him the meaning.

God used Daniel to make his first of many great impacts in prophesying the future. Daniel told the King of four different empires coming forth, and each of them eventually falling.

Speaking before not only the King, but also all the other wise men and high officials, Daniel spoke of the Fifth Kingdom. We find these words in Daniel 2:44.

“…the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.”

The Fifth Kingdom Daniel spoke of was yet to come.

These words were recorded nearly 2,600 years ago, and now that Fifth Kingdom is at hand. This is the Kingdom of Heaven made ready for all those who have placed their lives in the hands of Jesus, God’s Son, and serve Him.
