We Are Well-Known

Not many take the eternal consequences of God very seriously. Few, I believe, really understand that someday there will be an accounting they will have to give concerning how one has lived while here on earth. Even some church people who ought to know better won’t take the very eternal judgments of God seriously. Yet there is a day that all will be made known. Few, it seems, take the time to look at life from an eternal perspective. Only the cares of this world from the daily living to retirement are all they are focused on.

2 Corinthians 6 mentions this where it says in verse 12, “You are restricted by your own affections.” And that’s where most people are today.

Too many live for self- in all reality- and consider little the eternal consequences. They can’t, or don’t want to, look past retirement. But there is a whole new life ahead of that.

The most interesting and sober statement is made in chapter 5, verses 10-11, where these words are recorded, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done, whether good or bad…We are well-known by God.”

That ought to get your attention. For we are well-known by God, and what He knows is what’s going to determine our eternal future.

Examine your life every day and keep it in line with His eternal purposes. Your real retirement rests in God’s final decision.
