We are Called for a Season
Woody was born in Virginia in 1856, the son of a Presbyterian minister. He knew the Bible of his upbringing and he rose to become our 28th President of the United States.
Here is what President Wilson said in a speech about the Bible: “A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do. We are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about…
“The Bible is the one supreme source of revelation of the meaning of life, the nature of God and spiritual nature and needs of men.
“It is the only guide of life which really leads the spirit in the way of peace and salvation. America was born a Christian nation.
“America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of Holy Scripture.
“I have a very simple thing to ask of you. I ask every man and woman in this audience that from this day on they will realize that part of the destiny of America lies in their daily perusal of the great Book (the Bible).”
Wouldn’t it be something today to see some of our great leaders speak openly about the Bible and all it stands for instead of the politically correct nonsense that so many think they have to put out to please everyone. It is refreshing when someone does put the political correct stuff aside and speak of truth and righteousness.
Woodrow Wilson was not just a politician, but saw his life in the light of what God needed for him to be during the time in history that he was called upon to serve his creator’s purpose.
