We All Started the Same

Have you noticed sometimes people who are not related often look like they could be? And that’s true; we are all related in some way.

It all goes back to the Bible and the book of Genesis. Adam and Eve were the first two people created by God; then as mankind developed, there was great sinfulness. God decided to cleanse the earth and give people another chance. He told a man named Noah to prepare for a flood that would destroy the earth- many know the story. Only Noah and his family would listen to the warning, so they were spared. Mankind had to start over with Noah’s family; from Noah’s three sons, the world was repopulated.

These are the three groups of people that all of us descended from:

Shem was the first son of Noah and the father of the Hebrews, Arabians, Armenians, Syrians and Asia Minor, where Abraham and the Jewish people came from.

The second son was Ham, and his descendants are the Africans, Canaanites, Chinese, South Americans, Egyptians, Japanese, South Sea Islanders, Sudanese and American Indians.

Europeans, such as Germans, Italians, Russians, the Turkish and Scandinavians, as well as those from India, belong to the third son, Japheth.

Through these three men and the women they married, God’s creation continues. God is the only true creator of all people.

It isn’t important where our great-great-grandparents came from or what color their skin, hair and eyes were. What changes us is our decisions and how we choose to live. We can rely on ourselves and invent gods to support what we want to believe, or we can choose to trust our original creator, God.

If you place your life and eternal future in God the Creator’s hands today by accepting Jesus, His Son, as your savior and guide in this life and throughout eternity, you’ll choose to be recognized as a member of the family of God, the Father of all nations.
