The Power We Have with God’s Word

People fight many battles in their personal lives they don’t have to fight. Jesus himself said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

We don’t have to believe Jesus’ words. We can keep on trying to win battle after battle on our own.

Or we can accept Jesus’ words as truth and look to Him for the help we need. The Bible is full of God’s promises to us; we only have to believe them as truth and live by them.

God has so much more for us than we can ever imagine. Look to God’s Word and live by it, trust it, try it, search it and pray it, and you will see that all things are possible to them that believe.

One of the mightiest men of prayer of the last generation was George Muller of Bristol, England, who in the last 60 years of his life (he lived to be 92) obtained the equivalent of $7.2 million by prayer.

But George Muller never prayed for a thing just because he wanted it, or even just because he felt it was greatly needed for God’s work. When it was laid upon George Muller’s heart to pray for anything, he would search the scriptures to find if there was a promise to cover the case.

Sometimes he would search the scriptures for days before he would petition God. Then, when he found the promise, with his Bible open before him, and his finger upon the promise, he would plead that promise, and so he received what he asked. He always prayed with a Bible open before Him.

Next time you have a desire for the things of God, search the Scriptures to find the promise that covers the case, and then go to God and pray, pleading His own promise.
