Our Desires
Have you ever wished to do something special or to live somewhere that would be a peaceful place surrounded by beauty? Have you ever dreamed of being able to do great things, but you never got the opportunity? Or, maybe you had to give in somewhat to those wonderful thoughts you had hoped for because circumstances demanded otherwise?
Many people feel like the situations of life have cost them, even some who have served God’s purposes and given up opportunities to live out their life in a different way.
Yes, this world is demanding upon us. We must help others when it is not convenient or let something pass us by because we have to honor other commitments. Yes, sacrifice has a price. But for those who serve God, who give of themselves for the right reasons because they want to serve Christ’s interest here, let it be known that God sees and He knows why you do what you do.
In Psalms 37, we find a couple of statements about what God sees in us. Verse 18 says, “The Lord knows the days of the upright.” Verse 4 says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”
Remember, when you may think nobody’s watching what you’re doing that honors God’s will, He Himself is watching; and each day as you labor here for Him, He’s setting aside those very things that your heart has always desired, waiting until you arrive in Heaven. His words are true, but only for those who will believe and serve Him here now.
