Missing Your Strength

Each day across this country, people get up and go about their daily routines. Most are heading for their jobs. Others are arranging their day’s events, even making plans for the days ahead. People are going here and there thinking of what is to happen later, as well making their lives a part of other’s plans.

I am always thinking as I’m out and about, going to an appointment, when I see a person out jogging or walking briskly. I’ll always think, “I wonder if they’re as thoughtful with their spirit condition.”

We can work with our bodies all we want, and practice to be as healthy as we can. But without the spiritual supplies that only the God of heaven knows we really need, it will not ever do us any earthly good for what is to come after we leave earth.

Now I don’t expect too much out of people who don’t know God, nor want to, because they are acting just like they’re supposed to. But what really troubles me is to think of the people who go to church and claim that they are Christians yet never tap into the spiritual strength that they’re supposed to be using. I wish it wasn’t so, but I know that it is or our world wouldn’t be in the shape that it is in.

If those very men and women would just take time each day to read God’s word and study and meditate on what it is saying to them. How much more strength they would have to touch a world that has become so desperately in need of God’s people to live like God’s people.
