God Uses Unusable People

During the late 13th century and into the early 14th century, there arose a farmer, who was regarded as a peasant by the standards of the time. Living in Poland and Czechoslovakia, this man led the people like no other.

Apart from the religious order of the day, people were being persecuted for their faith and freedom to worship God. Because many of their leaders were being killed, the peasants took to towns and countryside to worship freely as Christians against government-established religion.

From the common people rose a man half-blind, later to become fully blind, who defeated over 100,000 of the greatest knights of that era. Jan Zizka had seen the religious authority betrayed and Jan Hus, a well-known church leader, burned alive. The power and wisdom of God rested on this blind leader who is credited with inventing the first gun, as well as the gun powder to shoot one.

Zizka built wagons into tanks that would fire cannons time and time again. Zizka outmaneuvered and was victorious over his enemies on the battlefield with meager troops and odds of 10 to one. He developed weapons of war never seen before and strategies never used. In fact, Zizka is credited with writing the first military conduct manual, and some of these techniques and strategies are still used by our military today.

Only God could give such wisdom. These inventions made a seemingly minor group become a major military machine. God can use anyone at any hour that is willing to be used - blind or crippled, large or small, man or woman.

Remember: With God, you are always the majority. Trust God to use you for great things in the days ahead.
