For America to Prevail
To see our nation begin again and take on the character of godliness, we must begin at the cross of Christ. We must become, again, people of the word, and we have to pray.
Our first president, George Washington, gives the testimony of his belief in God and the providence of God in the founding of our nation more than any other president in American history. Throughout his life, Washington prayed; from his time as a young man until the end of his life, he rose at 4:00 am each morning to pray and again at 9:00 pm at night, plus numerous times throughout the day.
If the gospel in America is to prevail, today’s Christian must not retreat except only to a place of prayer. The Christian’s life must mirror the life of Christ as we are His representatives to our culture that needs to see true Biblical Christianity.
Patrick Henry, a founding father of our nation who gave the ultimate sacrifice of his life for America, said this: “It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded not by religion but by Christians; not on religion but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
We must- we have to- pray for our nation’s leaders. In fact, in leadership positions across the board, the pastors of the churches across this land find themselves having to face greater challenges to their pulpits than ever before.
Never forget that no matter what we face, no matter what we see going on all around us, no matter what is being said, God is still in charge, and God still has a plan if we will follow Him in it.
