We Are that Generation
In case you haven’t noticed, this world around us is changing, and doing so rapidly. It’s not always for the good, either. We are now experiencing what is known as the last days. God is at work to get His people’s attention before that day where, in the twinkling of an eye (as 1 Corinthians 15:52 says), the rapture is going to happen.
With ethical problems and morality sliding, we can’t turn back the clock and have things the way they used to be. God’s plans are going to go forth no matter what is going on around us. His ways have never changed, even though ours have.
God’s Word tells us in Habakkuk 3:6 that His ways are everlasting; they aren’t affected by the economy or troubles we experience.
But while we are here, we are affected, and the impact of what is happening now in society is changing our world rapidly. From now on, this is going to be a constant time of change after change.
God’s ways are the only anchor in this ever-changing world. He understands what is going to happen next and is the only sure place for the future. Right now, God is allowing circumstances to touch people’s lives that they may humble themselves and turn to Him.
People always have a choice, right up until the end. Then God will make the final one.
Young people especially have trouble with this kind of talk. They want their shot at life to have achievements, to have their own family and watch their kids grow. They want a future, but that ultimately lies in God’s hands, not ours.
It’s okay to plan for tomorrow, but be prepared for today. Who knows what’s coming in the next hour of your life.
