Sacred and Common

These words have a great meaning with God. They always have as He has worked with His people over the centuries. You’ll find where God speaks of these things in the Old Testament book of Leviticus, which few people probably read because this place in the Bible is a more difficult area for some. But no matter which part of God’s Word you read, there can always be nuggets that have great value in one’s soul.
This shows up in Chapter 10, first in verse 3, where the Lord states, “I will display my holiness through those who come near me.” And then in verse 10 where the Word of God goes on to state, “You must distinguish between what is sacred and what is common.”
Today, these verses seem to have little meaning in so many lives. So few want to come near God’s real holiness, and because of the lack of holy living the sacred things of God are considered common by many who claim their position in life as one of a Christian.
But how can we be positioned with Christ unless we are striving to live holy? And if we are, it should be showing up in how we present the things of God to others. It is hard to see this in how people act, for so many look like this world and have little resemblance to that of heaven’s place in their life.
Examine your own life today. Can people look at you and truly see a difference in the likeness of the things of God, or do they see the resemblance of things of the world?
