Heaven's Reality

As I watch the state of Christianity today, we seem to have a view of heaven that is not true. It brings me to wonder – do people know what heaven’s about? Do I understand the place of eternity any better than anyone else? I guess when it comes to eternity, there are lots of questions we all have. There is the place of the unknown and then what we think we might expect.

I’ve found that so many exchange the possibilities of the Kingdom of God for their own “little kingdom” that they want to have here on earth. Yet when we have to face death, it will always rid us of the notion that we are in control of life. We know God created heaven. It says so in Genesis 1:1. We know God can cause fire to come down from heaven- II Kings 1:14 and Deuteronomy 11:17. God can shut up the heavens… God tells us in Malachi 3:10 that He’s able to open up the heavens like windows and pour out blessings for us if we will test His ways.

I find that most people want to go to heaven when they die or believe that they will, but most don’t want to follow the path it takes to get them there. When we come to the end of our lives, the results should not be in what we’ve done, but rather in what we’ve allowed God to do in us.
