False Generosity

It is a good thing to be a person that is of a generous heart; one that cares about others’ needs and truly has a willingness to make a difference where they can. These people are few. Now, some would argue with me and say there a lot of generous people – good people and church people who are always giving in the community. Yes, there are some, but fewer than we think. Why?

Just watch who gives and what they give to. Yes, they will give to certain charities. And it is okay to pick who you choose to give to. The question is: why?

Most will not give to God’s real work, but only to safe places where they can keep separation because of political positioning and business positioning. They give to get favor. They choose the places that they think will benefit them because of their giving. They make sure they get their picture with the right people and make the most politically correct statements.

Just how many really give with no thought in mind of how they will in some way be noticed for their giving?

Much godly work is financed by so few, while people who claim Christ as Lord, give to ungodly and ‘go nowhere’ projects all in the name of generosity. They look good at church, but where are they when it  comes to giving freely to the things of God? Most only pretend. Few will ever admit to their area of giving, but the end result is that God knows the true intent of the heart.
